About SPN
The Self Publishing Network (or SPN) is the brain child of publishing consultants Crystal Stranaghan and Jared Hunt.
The success of their publishing company, Gumboot Books, has inspired numerous articles and interviews online and in print and all began when the couple first self published Crystal’s children’s book: Then it Rained. With more than 30 titles now in print, Gumboot Books is a name that has quickly become known in the childrens book industry for its rapid growth and forward thinking focus.
Crystal and Jared have also co-authored a number of non-fiction books coming out this year through SPN Publishing – most notably the Live Your Dream series on Self Publishing For Profit, Book Marketing Mixology, Writing for Children and Staying Out of the Slush Pile. They travel widely throughout Canada teaching workshops on publishing, book marketing and writing and regularly speak at conferences and events in addition to coaching people on their projects one-on-one.
As the number of daily emails and phone calls from authors asking them how they did it grew, so too did the need for the information to be shared in a way that still left time for them to manage their rapidly expanding publishing business (and maybe sometimes even write something!).
